女巫手札：dill 蒔蘿
在中世紀，民間常用蒔蘿來驅魔辟邪，當時人們多喜門口或窗上結掛蒔蘿。另外他們也將蒔蘿當作一種祈求愛情的靈藥，據說女孩或男孩有了中意人時，便會設法偷偷將蒔蘿塞入對方的口袋，以祈求兩人能幸福相愛。此外有些地方，新娘也會在自己的鞋子裡塞進少許鹽和一小枝茴香，衣服上會用蒔蘿裝飾藉以祈求婚姻幸福。

Dill gets its name from an old Norse word “dilla” which means “to lull” or “to soothe”. This aromatic plant is wonderful for both culinary dishes and for magic. Dill is thought to keep manipulative witchcraft at bay. Think of it as an herb that creates a magickal “ no fly” zone around you.
「Dill」（蒔蘿）這個字來源自古北歐「dilla」，意指「麻痺」或「安撫」。（註1）他不但是烹調常用的香料，（註2）許多魔法也會用它當藥材、啟動靈界印記。當你在創造自己的魔法陣時，可以用蒔蘿幫你鎖住時空、避免外界干擾。

註1：
蒔蘿本身具有緩和疼痛的鎮靜作用。除了北歐之外，根據5000年前書於紙莎草紙之上的古埃及文獻記載，蒔蘿在埃及也被當作藥用植物。蒔蘿不但可用來治療頭痛、健胃整腸、消除口臭；還可以讓病患者的飲食料理增添風味、讓夜啼的幼兒趨於平靜等多種效果。
註2：
食用多用於魚類烹調，用以去除腥味，此外也用於在湯類、泡菜、麵包以及醃製食物等。其果實和種子在尚未成熟時，可以提煉成精油食用，也可以經過晾曬乾燥處理成為香辛料；其葉子（又稱作蒔蘿草）亦作為香草料，可以新鮮食用，也可以乾燥加工，氣味幽香，常用於魚類烹飪。
